The Facts
- You are an Environmentalist.
Anyone who cares about their quality of life is an environmentalist. And, everyone does.
- Activism does not an Environmentalist make.
You don't have to do anything special to be an environmentalist. Simply thinking that you want your quality of life to be better is sufficient. Yes, it's better if some action is taken, and the smallest act helps. Give money to an organization. Don't throw that trash on the ground. Base some of your purchases on minimal packaging.
- Getting more serious. Still feel you are not doing enough to call yourself an Environmentalist? Wannabe? The first step is to keep environmentalism in your mind as much as possible. Think about it for every action you take. Feel guilty about that big bag of trash. Feel guilty about those cigarettes you're smoking (for your health and others). Hell, feel guilty about using your car so much. Then do something you can call environmentally responsible action. Recycle something. Give money to groups. Vote for people or provisions which can help the environment. Fairly easy stuff.
- If you've taken any of the actions in (3), you definitely are an environmentalist.
Remember, being an environmentalist is not demonstrating or making speaches. Everyone is an Environmentalist - it's all a matter of degree.
